You may have heard the term plasma in skin care before in relation to PRP and wonder if Cold Plasma is a similar type of treatment. Platelet Rich Plasma (or PRP) uses plasma from a patient’s body to rejuvenate their skin. Cold Plasma, in comparison, doesn’t use any blood.
The plasma in PRP is physiological plasma which comes from the body, whereas the plasma used in Cold Plasma is a physical plasma. It is a combination of atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen which is delivered to the area of skin that needs treating via a special device.
Cold Plasma treatment is great for rejuvenating and revitalising the skin, but it is also proven to help with skin conditions that are often notoriously difficult to treat.
What skin concerns does Cold Plasma treat?
In clinical studies Cold Plasma treatment is shown to be very effective at reducing and improving the look of:
- Acne
- Atopic dermatitis
- Eczema
- Hyperpigmentation
- Psoriasis
- Rosacea
- Seborrhoea
Dr Platon Cold Plasma
At Dr Kate Aesthetics in Cockfosters, we use the Dr Platon Cold Plasma device which uses plasma shower technology to improve the look of the skin and improve specific skin care conditions.
The Dr Platon Cold Plasma device has a powerful Cold Plasma output, meaning you get superior benefits in a reduced treatment time. The Cold Plasma penetrates to deep levels in the skin, stimulating the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
It kills bacteria, accelerates healing and reduces inflammation while targeting more difficult to treat skin concerns. The treatment is quick, feels comfortable and is a gentle way to treat problematic skin.
Because the treatment is so gentle it can also be used on children from as young as age 12 who are suffering with acne.
The process
When you come for a Cold Plasma treatment at Dr Kate Aesthetics, the process will begin with a deep cleanse to remove any impurities on the surface of the skin. This is followed by the application of an enzymatic peeling gel that exfoliates the skin, helps to unclog pores and prepares the skin for the Cold Plasma treatment. We will then use the device to direct the plasma over the areas that are to be treated, this can be either the face or the body. After the Cold Plasma treatment we soothe, hydrate, moisturise and protect the skin.
When will I see results from Cold Plasma treatment?
You will notice the results of Cold Plasma straight after your first treatment. Your skin will look tighter, smoother and healthier and will feel rejuvenated.
To get the best results it is recommended that you follow a scheduled treatment plan. This will consist of 6-8 treatments, depending on the specific skin condition that you are wanting to treat. Appointments should be scheduled around one week apart, but this can be pushed to every two weeks if that is more convenient to fit with our patients’ lifestyles or commitments.
