Introducing Profhilo Structura
Launched in June 2024, the latest in the range of innovative injectable treatments from Profhilo is Structura. Structura is a groundbreaking injectable treatment that has been developed to lift, contour and rejuvenate the facial profile by targeting superficial fat layers in the face. Think of our face as a cake with 5 layers. From bottom to top, we have the bone, the deep fat, the muscle, the superficial fat and then the skin. As we get older every one of these layers changes. We have thinning and flattening of the bone structure. The deep and superficial fat reduces in volume and moves down the face.
Ageing affects facial muscles which leads to visible lines from repeated muscle contractions and changes in the tone of the muscles, the skin loses firmness and elasticity and this leads to wrinkles.
Much of how we age can be attributed to the changes in the subcutaneous fat in our faces. The fat pads deflate, shrink and move down the face. Profhilo Structura activates our ageing fat cell receptors and encourages them to behave how they did in our youth. It has been clinically proven to restore superficial fat to its original position. What is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is made from Hyaluronic acid, as are many dermal fillers, however Structura is different to most dermal fillers, due to the way it had been formulated. Dermal fillers that include hyaluronic acids can have many different formulations that can impact how the fillers perform. Molecular weight, the addition of chemical reagents, composition and concentration all impact the end results of a dermal filler.
Profhilo Structura uses a form of hyaluronic acid that has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, has a longer resistance to degradations versus traditional hyaluronic acid treatments and is designed to restore adipose tissue. In clinical studies Profhilo Structura was deemed to have a high safety profile and demonstrated efficacy for improving facial appearance and skin laxity.
How does Structura differ from Profhilo?
Profhilo is different to Structura since it works to improve skin quality without adding any volume. Profhilo is sometimes called an injectable moisturiser as it works on the top layer of the skin’s dermal cells and makes your skin look more hydrated and healthy. Profhilo is injected into the skin at a superficial level and stimulates your fibroblast cells to produce collagen and elastin. This improves the skin’s firmness, texture and hydration.
Structura will also improve the look of your skin but works at a deeper level and will give great results for patients who are experiencing more pronounced signs of ageing. It is clinically proven to reposition and regenerate the superficial fat pads which are located beneath the skin and above the muscle and deep fat layers. It helps to restore facial angles and counteracts tissue descent that naturally occurs over time. This results in a more lifted, contoured and rejuvenated facial profile which remains natural and subtle looking.
