As we age we inevitably become more susceptible to inflammation. Inflammation isn’t good for the body or our skin as it is directly linked to poorer health as we get older. The combination of inflammation and ageing is known as ‘inflammaging’.

Can you reverse inflammaging?

We can’t reverse inflammaging as it is a natural part of getting older, however we do know that living a healthy lifestyle is key to living a longer, healthier life. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and keeping in shape are just some of the ways we can reduce the risks that can be caused by inflammaging. There are also treatments that are specifically for the skin that have been designed to help manage inflammaging.

LED therapy

LED therapy can be used to help reduce inflammation. At Dr Kate Aesthetics in Cockfosters we use Dermalux LED (light emitting diode) treatment to rejuvenate our patients skin and treat the symptoms of inflammaging. Although Dermalux is a fabulous standalone treatment, we have recently introduced Luxima Gel which can be used alongside Dermalux, and is a gamechanger for rejuvenating our patients skin health.

What is Luxima Gel?

Luxima Gel is applied topically before an LED treatment. The gel is a ‘photo-converter’, meaning that when it is activated by the LED lights it produces fluorescent light energy (FLE), which generates multiple hyper pulsed wavelengths.

Luxima Gel supercharges the output of the LED lights, meaning a 15 minute LED session with Luxima Gel will be seven times more powerful than an LED treatment without it.

The benefits of using Luxima with LED

The supercharged wavelengths that occur from combining Luxima Gel with LED treatment

help to stimulate fibroblasts which in turn create more collagen, targeting the signs of poor skin health and inflammaging.

Luxima Gels can be used with different LED light colours to treat our patients specific skin care concerns. The treatment is quick, non-invasive, and can be used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments for even more dramatic results.

Luxima Gel can increase collagen production by up to 700%.

Who should consider Luxima treatment?

Luxima LED treatment is suitable for all skin types. It is a great as an ongoing treatment for skin maintenance, of for patients who specifically want to:

  • Reduce wrinkles and target ageing skin
  • Hydrate dull and tired looking skin
  • Increase collagen production
  • Slow inflammaging and the ageing process
  • Improve skin firmness, skin health and skin quality
