Polynucleotides are an injectable aesthetic treatment that work at a cellular level to regenerate the skin from the inside out. This innovative treatment is different to the other injectables we have available at Dr Kate Aesthetics in Barnet.
Read on to find out how this revolutionary new treatment can help you to improve your skin quality!
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are made from DNA fractions. They have a long history of being used in traditional medicine where they have been effective in healing wounded skin. More recently polynucleotides are being used in aesthetics to treat ageing skin.
When polynucleotides are injected into the skin they start a biological chain reaction at a cellular level. They do this by stimulating the fibroblast cells that are inside the body. The fibroblast cells are responsible for the body’s internal production of collagen.
Collagen is a protein that gives our skin its elasticity. It makes the skin look more supple, plump and youthful, so the more of it we can get, the better our skin will look.
Unfortunately as we age our natural ability to create collagen decreases and this leads to our skin looking older. As collagen decreases we may notice more lines and wrinkles, sagging and dehydrated skin. Polynucleotides wake up the cells that are responsible for collagen production, and as a result they help to improve the look of ageing skin.
Polynucleotide brands
At Dr Kate Aesthetics we use two different brands of Polynucleotides, they are Ameela and PhilArt. These are both leading polynucleotide brands but they have slight differences in their formulations and product ranges. Some patients may find one brand more suitable depending on their specific skin concerns or the area being treated. At Dr Kate Aesthetics in Barnet, we carefully assess each patient’s needs to recommend the best polynucleotide product for their desired results, ensuring a bespoke treatment experience.
Ameela polynucleotides
Ameela is known for its highly purified polynucleotides, offering products specifically designed to treat ageing skin, scars, and stretch marks, as well as rejuvenating the under eye area.
PhilArt polynucleotides
PhilArt provides a versatile range of polynucleotide products tailored to address varying levels of skin laxity, fine lines, hair thinning and solutions for treating the delicate eye area.
Where can polynucleotides be injected?
Polynucleotides are an adaptable treatment that can be used to treat many areas of the body. Popular treatment areas include the face, neck, decolletage and back of the hands.
They are not only a fantastic treatment for improving the look of the skin, but they can also be used to stimulate hair growth in patients who are experiencing hair thinning.
What are the results like?
Polynucleotides can help to treat the following concerns:
- Fine line and wrinkles
- Dehydrated skin
- Lax and sagging skin
- Fading away acne scars and sun damage
- Evening out your skin tone and texture
- Boosting hair growth and thickness
- Speeding up the healing of wounds and reducing scars
What is a Polynucleotide Treatment Like?
Polynucleotide treatment is a minimally invasive treatment that requires little to no downtime. Before the procedure we will carefully assess your skin to determine the best treatment plan. The treatment area is cleansed, and a numbing cream may be applied to ensure your comfort.
Polynucleotides are injected into specific layers of the skin using a fine needle or cannula. Depending on the area being treated, injections may follow a grid like pattern to ensure even distribution of the product.
After the procedure, it’s normal to experience mild redness or swelling at the injection points, which usually subsides within a day or two.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
To achieve the best results patients will need between 3 and 4 treatments which are spaced around 3 weeks apart. This allows the polynucleotides to stimulate collagen production and cellular regeneration over time.
The effects of the treatment build gradually, and should be fully visible after you have completed your course of treatments. Maintenance treatments every 6–12 months are advised to help sustain and enhance the results.
